THE TRUST FOR CHILD SOLDIERS
SMALL – LOCAL – DIRECT
Northern Uganda endured a 20 year-long war in which nearly two million people were displaced. The fighting stopped over a decade ago but its impact is felt across the region.
We support individuals and families in Northern Uganda with:
Direct cash grants
Business guidance
- Ongoing advice and support
Our support is almost entirely provided by volunteers, mostly from the community in Gulu. We seek to provide a sense of family and of safety. This year 97% of our expenditure went directly to beneficiaries.

BACKGROUND
The Lord’s Resistance Army war lasted twenty years, with two million people displaced. Many in Northern Uganda are still affected by the aftermath of conflict, in material, social and physical ways.
WHAT WE DO
The Trust for Child Soldiers is entirely run by volunteers, mostly from the local community in Gulu. We provide cash for emergencies, education and medical care, and practical advice and support.
WHO WE WORK WITH
We work with former child soldiers, children of former combatants and people whose problems result from post-conflict social breakdown.
OUR IMPACT
Our work is small-scale but can have life-saving or life-changing impact. In 2021-22, we supported 230 individuals and 168 households with £12,637 of direct giving and other support.
On 1st November 2011 we became Registered Charity Number 1144484 in the UK.
